ALBANY, NY (November 8, 2011) — Patrick Doyle, vice president and chief of development at Ridgeline Energy, a Seattle-based developer of renewable energy projects, was a panelist on the topic of wind power project development at Windustry's Northeast Region Conference Oct. 26-28, 2011 at The Desmond Hotel & Conference Center in Albany, NY.

Doyle, who has worked in the power generation business for the past three decades and whose firm is currently developing wind and solar energy projects across the U.S., participated in a lively discussion on a variety of topics, including contracting approaches when starting a wind power project, public financing options, how to select the right size turbine, permitting challenges, and the current status of installed projects.

He was joined on the panel by Scott McManus, director of business development at Gloversville-based Tetra Tech; Corey Juhl, vice-president of project development at Juhl Wind; and, Thomas A. Wind, PE, owner, Wind Utility Consulting. Kevin Schulte, chief executive officer of Rochester, NY-based Sustainable Energy Developments moderated the session.

The practical "how to" event, which covered Community Wind and Small Wind in a two-track program with a mix of case studies and technical information, provided a full range of what is needed for rural landowners, local investors, and community leaders to unlock the economic growth potential of locally-owned wind energy.

Attendees included rural landowners, farmers, elected officials, town planners, economic development professionals, business leaders, investors, bankers, community leaders, as well as experts in the renewable energy field.

Windustry, a non-profit organization working to increase wind energy opportunities for rural landowners and communities, hosted the two-day event, which was themed "Community Wind Across America" and sponsored by the US Department of Energy.
