Rockland Wind Farm Named 2011 Platts Global Energy Awards Finalist

SEATTLE, WA - Rockland Wind Farm has been selected as a finalist in the Platts Global Energy Awards, an annual program recognizing exemplary industry leadership. The 2011 finalists, selected from more than 200 nominations, were announced this week by program host Platts, the leading global provider of energy, petrochemicals and metals information.

Established in 1999 and often described as "the Oscars" of the energy industry, Platts Global Energy Awards highlight corporate and individual innovation, leadership and superior performance in 19 categories spanning the entire energy complex.

The Rockland Wind Project, developed by Ridgeline Energy and its joint venture partner Diamond Generating Corporation, is located on 22,000 acres of private land in Power County seven miles southwest of American Falls, Idaho. The Project is currently under construction and on-schedule with an expected in-service date of November 2011. The project includes 15,000 acres of land on which 44 turbines are sited, for a total generation capacity of 80 MW. The project has a PPA with Idaho Power.

"We congratulate our finalists and look forward to spotlighting their accomplishments and all others when we unveil the Global Energy Awards winners in December." said Larry Neal, president of Platts.

During the development stage of the Rockland Wind Project, environmental studies revealed the presence of a bald eagle travel corridor nearby - an issue that has derailed many other wind projects.Based on this information, and a commitment to an environmentally and economically viable wind project, Rockland worked closely with avian experts, the US Fish & Wildlife Service and the Idaho Department of Fish & Game to significantly adjust the design of the project. As a result, Rockland engineered a financially viable project that protected eagles as well as sharp-tail grouse. This close work with state and federal agencies satisfied the requirements of other federal agencies, the county, and the project lenders.

Nearly 600 guests are expected to attend the black-tie dinner at New York's Cipriani Wall Street on Thursday, December 1, when the 2011 Global Energy Awards will be presented by Platts.

The awards event will be preceded in the morning of December 1 with an associated event, Platts Global Energy Outlook Forum, which features roundtable discussions from debates from executives, government officials and industry leaders on "The World's Quest for Clean Energy."
