RIDGELINE ENERGY EXECUTIVE TO RECEIVE ACE NY'S OUTSTANDING INDUSTRY LEADER AWARD
ALBANY, NY (October 20, 2011) — Patrick Doyle, vice president and chief of development at Ridgeline Energy, a Seattle-based developer of renewable energy projects, will receive the Outstanding Industry Leader Award at the Alliance for Clean Energy's (ACE NY) 5th Annual Fall Conference. The presentation will take place Wednesday, Oct. 26th at 1:30 p.m. at The Desmond Hotel & Conference Center in Albany, NY. This year's theme is "From Innovation to Implementation."
A 30-year power generation veteran, Doyle is responsible for all areas of the development process from site identification through environmental and engineering studies and permitting through to the financing and construction of renewable energy projects.
The accolade, one of four ACE NY Sustainable Energy Leadership Awards, honors an individual, company or organization that has had a significant positive impact on the clean energy and energy efficiency industry as a whole.
"Patrick is a long-standing champion for wind energy in New York and has been instrumental in developing some of our state's most notable wind farms," said Carol E. Murphy, executive director of ACE NY, whose annual gathering supports its mission of promoting clean energy, a healthy environment, and a strong economy for the Empire State. "In addition, as a founding board member of ACE NY, he helped establish the organization and served as an officer during its crucial early years. We are grateful for his many contributions and positive impact on New York's clean energy industry."
"It's an honor to receive this award as ACE NY celebrates its 5th anniversary. ACE NY has become one of the most respected and influential clean technology organizations in the state," added Doyle, whose firm is currently developing a number of wind and solar energy projects across the U.S. "Clean energy technologies are our future. They will power our economy, lower electricity costs, reduce the destruction and waste of our valuable resources, improve our air quality, and leave the world a better place for our children."
Before joining Ridgeline Energy last year, Doyle founded and ran NorthWind and Power, an Albany-based developer of community-scale wind projects. In 2010, he brought the NorthWind and Power projects and team into Ridgeline, which is part of Veolia Environment (NYSE:VE), the world's largest environmental services company.
From 2001-2008, the Ireland native served as development director for Horizon Wind Energy, leading the development of wind farm projects east of the Mississippi. During his tenure, he developed a pipeline of 2,500MW of wind development projects, including the 320MW Maple Ridge Wind Farm on Tug Hill, one of the largest wind power projects in the country. He also established and oversaw Horizon's LEED-qualified Northeast Regional Headquarters in downtown Albany, and its six satellite offices.
Earlier in his career, Doyle worked for Schenectady, NY-based GE, for whom he installed and commissioned turbines throughout the Middle East, Asia and South America. He also worked at ABB Power Generation of Zurich, Switzerland, establishing power generation, engineering, and manufacturing joint ventures in Eastern Europe. He later served as general manager of Wartsila North America's Independent Power Business, increasing their floating and land-based reciprocating engine power plant business in Central America and the Indian Subcontinent.
Doyle holds a degree in mechanical engineering from University College Dublin and an MBA from the London Business School.
